The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) is currently hosting its highly anticipated Super Week in Windhoek, which began on Monday and runs until Sunday.

Super Week is a dynamic rugby development initiative that brings together coaches, match officials, educators, and strength and conditioning practitioners from across the country. The programme focuses on enhancing skills, sharing knowledge, and strengthening the foundations of rugby development nationwide.

It forms a key part of the NRU’s long-term commitment to building capacity through education and training at all levels of the game.

Participants are engaged in a range of accredited courses aimed at improving technical knowledge, coaching ability, officiating standards and player welfare. The week features multiple development streams, including an Educators Course, Immediate Care in Rugby (ICIR) Level Two, First Aid in Rugby (Fair) Level One, Strength and Conditioning Level One, Coaching Level One certification, and Judicial Officers (JO) training.

World Rugby Trainers - Each course is facilitated by qualified World Rugby Trainers, combining theoretical and practical sessions to equip participants with internationally aligned knowledge and skills.

NRU officials have highlighted the importance of Super Week as a platform for strengthening the rugby ecosystem across the country.

“Super Week is one of our flagship development initiatives. By investing in education and upskilling our coaches, match officials and support staff, we are ensuring that rugby in the country continues to grow in a structured and sustainable way,” said an NRU representative.

The programme also provides attendees with an opportunity to gain certification and network with fellow rugby stakeholders, exchanging ideas that will positively impact both grassroots and elite rugby. Super Week plays a vital role in supporting player safety, improving match quality, and fostering professionalism within the sport. By aligning its training with international rugby standards and delivering programmes through World Rugby Trainers, the NRU continues to position Namibia as a nation committed to excellence both on and off the field.

As the week progresses, the NRU has encouraged the public and rugby community to follow updates and highlights on its official platforms, where daily insights into training sessions and participant experiences will be shared.
