The African Child Development Trust (ACDT), in partnership with the Capricorn Foundation, is continuing its nationwide campaign to strengthen early childhood education in Namibia. The initiative spans all 14 regions and currently distributes 60,000 free early learning booklets every month.
Speaking at a recent handover, ACDT representative Sharnay Botha expressed gratitude for the support. “We are here to celebrate our continuing partnership with the Capricorn Foundation. We are so grateful to them,” she said. Since the collaboration began, the Trust has distributed more than 14 million booklets to pre-primary and Grade 1–3 learners, equipping them with essential reading and learning skills.
Capricorn Foundation, which has supported the project since 2020, reaffirmed its commitment to education and uplifting vulnerable communities. “The African Child Development Trust is one of the first projects we partnered with,” said Veripura Muukua, Head of the Capricorn Foundation. “It falls under our education focus, and we are proud of this partnership. It’s the kind of impact we can make collectively in our communities.” She added that the initiative is not only an investment in the present but also in the future of Namibia’s children.
The foundation has committed N$600 000 in sponsorship to ensure the continued rollout of booklets, which teachers said would ease classroom resource shortages and nurture a love for reading from an early age.
