Namibia's livestock sector posted broadly positive results in February, with growth recorded across cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, and eggs, according to the Livestock and Livestock Products Board of Namibia. Beef exports more than doubled year on year to 1.14 million kilograms, with live cattle exports rising 34.1% to 6 047 head, all destined for South Africa. Sheep marketing surged 69.3% to 62 136 head, driven by a near doubling of live exports.
Goat marketing grew 13.5% to 7 741 head, while egg volumes rose 35.8% year to date to 19.19 million eggs. Chicken marketing climbed 18.2% year to date, though monthly volumes dipped slightly. The dairy sector was the outlier. Domestic milk production fell 4.6% year on year, pushing imports up 59.2%. South Africa accounted for 94.3% of dairy imports.
